All LUXURY Discovery Horse Floats are insulated in the living quarters. It is also an option a client can opt to use in any weekender or camping build. Insulation slows the rate of heat transfer into and out of your trailer, which makes it easier to maintain the temperature you want. A properly insulated trailer is easier to heat and cool. It won�t heat up as quickly in the summer, and stays warmer in winter.
Team Discovery uses XPS, which is a type of foam board insulation that�s widely used in cmpers, trucks, goosenecks and horse trailers. XPS has a very good R-value (you want to insulate with materials that will do the most in the least amount of space) per inch at R-5 which is impermeable to moisture. Another benefit is its high compressive strength and lightweight. The board is installed around the ribs of the float frame and sandwiched between our metal sheets.
No matter how well-insulated your rig is, it�s still a good idea to follow the weather you want. While trailer insulation does make the inside of your trailer much more comfortable, horse camping isn�t about staying in your trailer � it�s about getting out there and enjoying the world on your horses ...... but a little home away from luxury is damn sweet !!
